About Access Control and Door Entry Systems

In its simplest form, access control allows management of who is permitted door access. Systems can range from single door coverage to large scale PC based systems controlling multiple access points. A PC based access control system allows multiple users, controls access and gathers data from the usage of an individual’s card or fob. Each time it is used to enter or exit, the data is stored, this can then be used to log employee time at work, or if necessary to restrict access to rooms or areas.

Door entry systems are an asset to many types of properties by controlling who enters a building. Most commonly used in residential flats and office blocks, the systems also have more modest applications such as in residential homes for the elderly, or where secure entry is required.

The main door station is situated outside the property and can be vandal resistant if preferred. When entry to a building is required the relevant call button is selected and, when the call is answered inside the building, two way communication can begin. Entry can then be allowed by unlocking from inside or can be refused preferred.
